The Restored Eldridge Carousel

Eldridge Park's new Victorian theme at the carousel - August 2005

his photo was taken by Tom Burhyte of Horseheads, NY. Tom has sent us many photos, old and new, of Eldridge Park. As a member of the Eldridge Park Carousel Preservation Society, he is providing a valuable record, both as a photographer and as a person who literally grew up at the park, working there summers for the Randall family (owners of the Dragon Boat) and Bob Long, the man who originally brought the carousel to the park back in the 1940s.

This view of the newly restored carousel building is from across Eldridge Lake. Memorial Day Week-end 2006 promises to be an eventful time for Eldridge Park as that's the planned opening of the carousel, which will have all new animals, a restored mechanism and the refurbished excitement that kids of all ages remember. Will you be there, too?
