May 12, 2008 - readying Jasper II's slip

May 11, 2008 - a collection of what's going on pictures as we near moving day.

May 9, 2008 - Dropping in the poles and driving them in - up to now, most of the boat house work has been done elsewhere. Today, we get the actual site on the lake shore ready to receive Jasper II's new home. Currently, the boat house sits on its temporary location, the Summer Stage, where it was constructed. 40-foot poles are now being driven deep into the soil at the lakeshore to receive the boat house, which will be relocated soon.

The final size of the Jasper II's home will be 14 feet by 32 feet. The roof is a victorian style 55 degree pitch, and will have beautifully sculpted shingles, with copper accents. It will be built ON the new stage, and then placed on walk ways supported by 40 foot poles driven into the lake shore, by a 40 ton crane.

March 10, 2008 - Bob Lyon & Dan Kane are presently building the trusses for the 16x32 boat house which will house Jasper II on Eldridge Lake. A core drilling procedure which was completed last week on the shore of the lake showed that silt - basically quicksand - was the top 20' or so before a mix click here to see enlargementof solid aggregate material was found. The core drilling was necessary to find out ahead of time what depth we would hit something relatively solid before the telephone poles were driven into the lake for the base of the boat house.

There are two willow trees to the west of the stage. The boat house will be going in right between the trees. This may be the last picture taken before the construction begins.
