Sylvia
- a Looff Eldridge Original
The
Sylvia Story Mary Lyon, with the help of Bruce Zubee of Carousels.com, found a jumper horse carved by Charles I.D. Looff in the 1890s. This one is special as it was originally on the Eldridge Park carousel. After it was auctioned in 1989 at Guernseys, it made its way to Chicago and was purchased by Tony Molettiere of Souderton, PA. It remained in his living room for many years. I contacted him and his wife, Bobbi, and directed them to this incredible website. After less than two weeks, it was decided that the jumper should return home. The couple wants EPCPS to be caretakers of this historic gem at a fraction of its appraised value. Frank
Messina, Mary, our son, Graham and I drove to Souderton
to bring Sylvia home. I must note that unlike some of the Eldridge Park
originals, this animal is structurally sound and needs only to be returned
to its original paint scheme. Thank you Tony and Bobbi for making the
purchase of Sylvia possible.
