Carousel
building - AVAILABLE
for sponsorship
a
Victorian dream come true - completed May 2005
ts
a dream come true! It was important to Bob Lyon and the EPCPS that the
beloved carousel be protected by a building as glorious as the gem inside
its walls. Thanks to the City of Elmira, Chemung County
and State Senator George Winner, the dollars needed to complete
the victorianization of the carousel building were available.
A special thank you for at cost and/or donated materials and labor
from Matt Doyle of Overhead Door, Pella Corporation,
Lowes, The Glass Company, Hetrick
Glass, Cadillac Aluminum, Hale Roofing,
Coons Supply, Elk Corporation of Canada,
Certainteed Corporation, Erie Building Supply,
DeMuth Electric, Twin Tier Paint and Wall Covering,
Blaine Overraker, Mark Embree, Jeff Castor, Tom
Burhyte, Tom Erle, Carmen Zito, Walter Booth
and many others.
One
of the most discerning and fussy contracting companies in the region,
Furman and Harkness, is rebuilding the side and front walls
from scratch. They then went from the five story tall cupola and worked
down; stripping and resheathing the roof over the original roof planking
which was rebuilt in 1942 using lumber from the old casino; new vent style
decorative windows in the cupola; new high profile 40 year architectural
grade shingles by Elk never before used in this area; leaded
glass entrance doors with sidelights and circle top transom on the east
and west sides; Victorian brackets and rosettes called for by our volunteer
architects from Larry Foor and Associates.
You or your organization
can sponsor this building and help keep it maintained for generations
to come with a $250,000 sponsorship donation. Click
