Progress
on the Dragon Benches
ohn
Kolanach of Wildwood Art & Carving says
this about the Eldridge Carousel Restoration: "This latest project
for
the Eldridge Park Preservation Society is my most exciting project
yet. I was asked to do two reproduction Dragon Benches after the original
Charles Loof designs that were sold at auction after the teardown of the
carousel. I want to thank Cummings Lumber of Troy, PA for their donation
of basswood to the preservation project for the creation of these carved
Dragon benches. They are presently cutting and planing the wood. Upon
receipt, I'll be immediately starting the gluing-up and carving."
The benches are
a combined effort between John Kolanach and Paul Morss, a woodworker residing
in Horseheads, NY. Paul is crafting the benches, while John is carving
the end-pieces. Click here to read more about
